Hooked On Wrestling’s Guide To WWE Money In The Bank 2023 Weekend In London

We are now merely days away from WWE Money In The Bank 2023 taking place in London at the O2 Arena. Of course we also have SmackDown to look forward to the night before.

It is going to be the biggest wrestling weekend of the year in the UK since Clash At The Castle last September and we wanted to produce a handy guide for everyone heading down to London for the weekend.

This guide will cover events, getting around and other things to do in London for wrestling enthusiasts that weekend. We want this to be as comprehensive as possible so if we have missed anything, let us know by emailing us here. If we think it will be useful for fans in general we will add it to our guide.

When Does WWE Money In The Bank 2023 Start? (And WWE SmackDown)

WWE Money In The Bank 2023 will kick off on Saturday 1st July at 8PM UK time at the O2 Arena. WWE SmackDown will start at 8PM on Friday 30th June 2023.

I Need Tickets To WWE Money In The Bank 2023 and SmackDown

Well we can help you there. We’ve teamed up with our chums at Wrestle Tours and we have a range of packages on offer for various seat levels for both shows as well as access to all the Hooked On Wrestling events that weekend and a cheeky merch bundle. What’s more, you can split the cost of the packages over three equal monthly installments to spread the burden a little bit. You can find details of our packages here.

Getting To The O2 Arena

For those not familiar with the O2 Arena, it is NOT in Central London so it important you give yourselves plenty of time to travel. Whilst buses and taxis are an option, there are two favoured ways of travelling to the arena. You can also consult the live journey planner on TFL.Gov.UK.

  • London Underground: The O2 Arena is served by the North Greenwich station. This can be found on the Jubilee Line which is the grey line on the Tube Maps you will find at stations and at the TFL website. The Jubilee Line passes through a number of major interchange stations including London Bridge, Waterloo and Green Park. Please note, the Jubilee line was built much more recently than some of the other Underground lines so interchange from one line to the other can involve longer walks than expected. In stations, if you are heading there from Central London, keep a look out for directions to the Jubilee line EASTBOUND (Heading towards Stratford). Important to note that this line can get VERY busy at rush hour so avoid 4-6:30PM if you can. Coming back on this line, the queue to get into the station and on to the platforms can be lengthy so patience is needed.

  • Uber Boat. Formerly known as Thames Clipper, this river service is a brilliant, quick, scenic and comfortable way of getting to the arena, with a pier right outside the arena. It has pick ups all along the river Thames with a very regular service running from Waterloo to the O2. It’s about a 45 minute journey from one to the other with stops on the way including Westminster, Embankment and London Bridge. Be warned that each stop picks up from only one side of the river so make sure you know whether your stop/pier is on the north bank or the south. Prices for the Uber Boat are more expensive than the same journey by tube. Most piers and step-free and wheelchair accessible and the boats even have a bar to enjoy a beer en-route!

Getting Back From The O2 Arena after WWE Money In The Bank 2023 or SmackDown

Whether you are going to one of our awesome after parties (More info below) or heading back to your hotel, getting out of the O2 can be a bit tiresome by tube as the queues are long. As for taxis and Uber, be prepared for a wait. Again, the Uber Boat is your friend here. You can book a special journey back into London on one of the Post-Show services at this page, The first service is the Post Show Express that departs 15 minutes after the show ends and stops only at London Bridge, Waterloo and Battersea Power Station. Are your tickets in the 400 level? If so, forget this service as you won’t make it to the pier on time. The other option is the Post-Show Request. This stops at all piers required by passengers. This also departs about 15 mins after the show but there may be multiple boats dependent on demand. Tickets for both services must be bought in advance.

Don’t fancy rushing for the boat? The best option is to grab a post-show drink and wait for the queue for the tube to die down a bit.

Getting Around London

Familiarise yourself with the London Underground map as it will get you anywhere you want to go. Keep an eye out for closures on the Saturday though as some lines do close for repairs at weekends. Buses are also an option around London if you are confident enough in where to get on and off. Another option….Get those steps in. Many places in the centre are closer than you think so always best to consult Google Maps to compare travel times on foot and by tube. For instance, it is famously quicker to walk between Covent Garden and Leicester Square than it is to get the tube.

Ubers are also plentiful in London through the day and night. Obviously exercise caution when travelling in private vehicles, as you would at any time.

How Do I Pay For Public Transport In London?

For those not used to getting around London, paying could not be simpler. Simply use your contactless debit or credit card to tap in and out on your chosen journey and the cheapest fare will be calculated for you. At the end of the day, the system will even calculate if you would have been better buying a day travelcard and if so, it will refund the difference. It really is great. You can use this for all transport in London but a couple of things to note:

  • Whilst most tube stations have barriers forcing you to tap out, the DLR (Light railway in East London) and some non-central Tube stations will not have barriers. On these platforms it is crucial you find the terminals (With yellow or pink pads) to tap out at the end of your journey. If you don’t. you will pay through the nose for a penalty fare. Be warned!

  • If going via Uber Boat, you can tap in and out on the piers or pre-purchase tickets from the Uber app.

  • If you are taking a bus, you only have to tap in at the start of the journey. No need to tap out at the end.

What else is going on at the O2 Arena?

The best thing to do right before the shows is head to Slug & Lettuce inside the O2 to hang out at our Events Centre alongside PROGRESS Wrestling and Wrestle Tours. We have a ton of fun things to do in the hours before the shows on Friday and Saturday and full details can be found here. Entry is completely free on both days but subject to capacity limits.

How Do I Watch WWE Money In The Bank 2023 Or SmackDown if I Don’t Have A Ticket?

No ticket? No problem. Because we have screenings of both taking place at Sports Bar & Grill Old Street (Nearest Tube: Old Street) in Shoreditch. Both start at 8PM. Our SmackDown screening is completely free. Just rock up. Our WWE Money In The Bank screening requires you to purchase a ticket in advance or on the door and you can get that right here. Each ticket comes with a free drink to start your night off. We also have a MITB screening at Leicester Square but this is completely sold out.

Day Time Activities

Many told us the highlight of their weekend in Cardiff for Clash At The Castle was joining fellow fans for two of HOW’s signature events.

On Saturday 1st July at 11:30AM we will be hosting our Sunshine Machine Beach Ball Bottomless Brunch Bingo Bonanza at Sports Bar & Grill Old Street. Join the longest reigning PROGRESS Wrestling tag team champions, TK Cooper and Chuck Mambo for our take on Bonkers Bingo. The two hour event is a hoot and is open to all ages (Under 18s require adult accompaniment). Details and tickets can be found here.

On Sunday 2nd July at Clubhouse 5 Leicester Square, Rob McNichol and Paul Benson will be your hosts as we close the weekend with a very special in the flesh edition of the Hooked On Wrestling Sunday Quiz. Come and wind down from the weekend and test your wrestling brains with our just for fun trivia game with a few bits of non-trivia silliness thrown in for good measure. Tickets can be purchased right here.

Getting between Hooked On Wrestling Events & The O2 Arena

We’ve tried to pick accessible venues and so here are your best bets for getting back and forth.

Sports Bar & Grill Old Steet/O2 Arena: Simply take the Southbound Northern Line to London Bridge and change on to there to the eastbound Jubilee Line (Heading to Stratford) to North Greenwich,. Simply flip that around if coming the other way. Door to door journey time: 35-40 mins

What Other Events Are Happening In London That Weekend?

WWE are not the only game in town when it comes to the graps over WWE Money In The Bank 2023 Weekend. No sir….

On Friday 30th June, Riot Cabaret and Attack Pro Wrestling come together to present ‘Friends Stand Together’ at the iconic Clapham Grand. Doors open at 18:30 and first bell is 19:30. You can grab tickets right here.

The show will feature some top caliber British wrestlers including Nina Samuels, Session Moth Martina, Sub Culture, Charles Crowley and Spike Trivet. The venue is directly opposite Clapham Junction railway station which has direct London Overground trains from all over the city and a very short regular train service to both London Victoria and Waterloo stations.

On Sunday 2nd July, head to the north of the city to The Dome to witness the London institution that is Eve: Riot Grrrls Of Wrestling Live At The Dome. This venue can be found right by Tufnell Park station on the Northern Line (Black on the map). The event will feature a range of awesome grapplers from all over the world including Eve Champion Miyu Yamashita, Session Moth Martina, Billie Starkz and Millie McKenzie. Also on the Sunday, Revolution Pro Wrestling present ‘Live In London 75’ at 229, Great Portland Street. The show kicks off at 16:30 (Doors one hour prior) and tickets can be purchased here.

Personally, we can’t think of a single reason why you wouldn’t want to join Hooked On Wrestling if you were looking to watch Money In The Bank at a watch party but hey, it takes all sorts so maybe the chaps at WrestleTalk might be more your bag. They will be hosting a live screening alongside Adam Blampeid hosting QuizzleMania at the Long Arm & Brewery near Liverpool St station. Tickets are available now right here.

Anything Else?

We think we have it covered in terms of events but it’s absolutely worth mentioning that The Wrestling Shop Live will be opening a pop up shop at Waterloo Station from Wednesday June 28th until Sunday July 2nd. The store can be found in The Sidings shopping arcade within the station (Near the massive Brewdog). Drop in to grab some brilliant wrestling merch to have as a souvenir of this awesome weekend. More details can be found here.
